We had our weekly FHE with the Lolohea family today. Mumu gave the lesson on faith and listening the prompting of the Spirit. She shared the story of Alma. Alma was called to serve the Mulekites. There was a wicked priest named Amulon who led these people astray. Through the power of the Spirit and faith Alma was able to teach and baptize these people.
I was quickly reminded of my mission in Peru. Like Alma, we were sent to an area called Tullomayo in Cusco. The missionaries in that area would joke that people in Cusco were as "cold" as the weather. We had many people snare at us and slam their doors. The work wasn't as easy. We'd hope that these people would want to listen. We had the truth but hoping wasn't enough. We had to exercise our faith and listen to spirit. This wasn't OUR work it was the Lord's. We weren't able to convert villages like Alma did, we would preach to many, but only a few were able to enter the waters of baptism.
When hope isn't enough, we have to hold on to our faith and press forward. I loved Mumu's lesson. Have a great week everyone!
